My love with computers must have started with the Commodore 64. As a young boy, I was lucky to have received one of these as a gift from my parents. Actually, it was the beefed up model, Commodore 64C, shown here. At the time, I used it mostly for games but it also introduced me to the BASIC programming language.

I was intrigued with how much technology and power went into computers and how much good they could do. In the early 1990's, when the internet was starting to become more and more popular, I decided to teach myself HTML so I could make web pages. I then taught myself PHP and JavaScript to develop full-featured Web Applications.

I've used most of the major operating systems out there including SCO Unix, Novel Netware, numerous variants of Linux, every release of Windows and every release of MacOS starting from System 7. I also know my ways around mobile operating systems including iOS, iPadOS and various versions of Android. Today, my computers of choice are Apple computers running MacOS. I find the operating system far superior to Windows due to it's engineered simplicity and UNIX core.

Music is my passion. I enjoy listening to nearly all genres of this universal language. I took piano lessons as a young boy and continue to play today. I've created some original compositions and later began getting into multitrack recordings when in high school. I've recorded classical, Hip Hop, EDM, and Latin using digital audio workstation (DAW) software such as Cakewalk, Cubase, and Apple Garageband and Apple Logic.

In my spare time, I love to DJ parties! I have a DJ service company called JoeyRewind where I am hired to perform for special events such as birthdays, weddings and Christmas parties. I play all kinds of music from the 1960s to current day and can incorporate videos (VJ) and karaoke (KJ) in my gigs.

Here I am perfoming a sound check at Martell's Tiki Bar on Point Pleasant Beach, NJ. It was a holiday party for one of the departments from Meridian Health Care, a nearby local hospital.

DJ-ing is an artform that also uses specialized technolgies such as mixers, controllers, software and wired and wireless tech. For example, to synchronize music to lighting, I used a protocol called DMX to control how the lights change color and move to the sound of the beat.

I regularly attend the DJ Expo held yearly in Atlantic City, NJ to stay up to date with new equipment and to network with other DJs.

Photography is a great medium to capture memories. Being artistic by nature, I have always enjoyed how true it is when people say a picture is worth a thousand words. Today, with digital photography, it is a natural transition for me to be able to capture some great moments and preserve them digitally. Using image editing programs, such as Adobe Photoshop, I have even been able to duplicate and restore some old photos that have been severely damaged - in essence bringing them back to life! My favorite camera is the Panasonic Lumix FZ-200 which boasts a fixed 2.8 aperture throughout the entire super zoom range!

Perhaps even more challenging than taking a good photo is the ability to record some great video. Ever since the days of VHS and BetaMax camcorders, I have enjoyed making movies. Since computer technology has improved so much, it is easier than ever to edit them. Nowadays, everything I film is in High Definition or higher and content gets digitially transferred for computer editing. I prefer using Apple Final Cut Pro for editing to apply transitions, effects, sounds and more! I have also used Adobe Premier and DaVinci Resolve for this but I find Final Cut Pro to be more user-friendly. Finalized movies are exported as digital files (mp4, mkv, etc.) suitable for streaming or I can author and burn DVD or Blu-Ray discs.

As a kid, I enjoyed video games and playing on my Atari 2600 and going to arcades. There is something magical about interacting with what you see on the screen. The interest kept growing and I started to learn more and more about the technology that made these things happen.

To satisfy my nostalgic crave, I went ahead and built my very own custom arcade cabinet so I could play classic games like Ms. Pacman and Street Fighter. The best part is that I no longer need to feed it any of my quarters!

The system was created using some spare computer parts, a joystick assembly, and specialized emulation software. Today I am able to play games from various systems such as ColecoVision, Sega Master System, Nintendo Entertainment System, Sony Playstation and even original arcade systems.
